The silver jubilee of the IT Olympics in Dhaka on November 11
The Silver Jubilee of the World Conference on Information Technology will be inaugurated on November 11 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center. In the year of implementation of Digital Bangladesh, the four-day IT Olympics will be held in a hybrid model. The Digital Bangladesh Award 2021 will be announced in four categories including general and technical and public and private at the conference.
The ICT department will be accompanied by the World Congress of Information Technology (WCIT), the Bangladesh Computer Society and the Bangladesh Computer Council.
A preparatory meeting for the conference was held on August 2 chaired by the State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak. From the meeting, nominations or applications were invited for the announcement of the 'Digital Bangladesh Award 2021' in various categories to provide inspiration, encouragement and recognition to individuals, groups and organizations for their special contribution to the ICT sector. It was decided to organize the whole event in the context of how the country can reach the level of a developed and prosperous country by 2041 with the power of information technology.
As per the decision of the meeting, the selection committee will make a list to the Central Selection Committee within the stipulated time with reasons and recommendations in favor of selecting a total of 12 proposals in three categories of best individuals, groups and organizations separately in two general and technical levels.
Earlier, the selection committee will verify and select the submitted application and recommend for the award on September 30. Subsequently, the recommended applications will be forwarded to the Cabinet Committee on National Awards on October 10. After that, on the occasion of Digital Bangladesh Day on December 12 this year, the 'Digital Bangladesh Award 2021' will be awarded considering the activities of 2020 (January-December).
Niaz Mohammad Zeaul Alam, Senior Secretary, ICT Department, Mohammad Afzal Hossain, Secretary, Posts and Telecommunications, Tofazzal Hossain Mia, PMO, Mohammad Enamul Kabir, Director, Bangladesh Computer Council, Shahid Ul Munir, President, Bangladesh Computer Association, Abdullah H. Kafi, Former President, Association were virtually attached in the meeting.
